All students applying for the 18-MONTH DIPLOMA PROGRAMS must meet the following requirements:
- one of the Academic Experience options described below
- all Prerequisite Courses listed below
- all students applying for DISTANCE PROGRAM are required to identify a facility that delivers diagnostic medical sonography services in their specialty area and is willing to engage in a mentorship contract with IMU.
- Sonographers desiring to CROSS TRAIN may select from any of the courses offered in the specialty area of interest and are not required to meet the academic requirements below.
ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE Options

Includes, but not limited to: radiologic technologist, respiratory therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, registered nurse

In addition to meeting one of the above options, applicants will need to have completed the following courses in either high school or college.
1. algebra 2. biology 3. communication skills 4. physics
(Note: IMU offers an online general physics course that can be completed prior to or concurrent with the first term of the program.)
