What is HorizonLive

 
HorizonLive is a flexible, Web-based tool for conducting live online classes that can be archived and viewed at a later time. Content can include PowerPoint slides or any images, HTML-Based content, multimedia formats such as Flash, Shockwave, Real, and QuickTime, Adobe Acrobat PDF documents, and any other content that can be viewed in a Web browser. Presenters can prepare their content ahead of time or create new content "on-the-fly" using the eBoard tool.

  Synchronous and Asynchronous Instruction
With HorizonLive, students and their instructors can conduct class activities in real time, or synchronously, and communicate via text chat, one-way audio, or two-way audio. Classes can also be archived for asynchronous review.
  Low Bandwidth Support
HorizonLive can be effectively used with Internet connections as low as 28.8 kbps, thereby accommodating on-campus broadband users as well as off-campus users connecting remotely via dial-up connections.
  Accessible to Persons with Disabilities
HorizonLive allows any member of an educational institution, including those with disabilities, to learn and communicate interactively via the web; features accommodating users with disabilities include HTML messaging, text-only descriptions of slides, and integration with closed captioning systems.
  The HorizonLive Wizard
The Wizard helps users - including students and instructors - make sure their computers are ready for HorizonLive. The wizard checks for the browser version and necessary plug-ins as well as for sound and interaction capabilities.
